Carlos
Augusto Alves Santana (born July 20, 1947) is a Mexican and American rock
guitarist. Santana became famous in the late 1960s and early 1970s with his
band, Santana, which pioneered rock, Latin music and jazz fusion. The band's
sound featured his melodic, blues-based guitar lines set against Latin and
African rhythms featuring percussion instruments such as timbales and congas
not generally heard in rock music. Santana continued to work in these forms
over the following decades. He experienced a resurgence of popularity and
critical acclaim in the late 1990s. In 2003, Rolling Stone magazine listed
Santana at number 15 on their list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.
He has won 10 Grammy Awards and 3 Latin Grammy Awards.

Robert
James "Bob" Ritchie (born January 17, 1971), known by his stage name
Kid Rock, is an American singer-songwriter, musician, multi-instrumentalist and
rapper with five Grammy Awards nominations. Kid Rock released several studio
albums that mostly went unnoticed before his 1998 record Devil Without a Cause,
released with Atlantic Records, sold 11 million albums behind the hits,
"Bawitdaba", "Cowboy", and "Only God Knows Why".
In 2000, he released The History of Rock, a compilation of remixed and remastered
versions of songs from previous albums as well as the hit single,
"American Bad Ass".
Kid
Rock released the follow-up in 2001, Cocky. After a slow start, his
country-flavored hit "Picture" with Sheryl Crow resurrected the album
and it went gold as a single and pushed the album's sales over 5 million. It
was followed by 2003's self-titled release, which went platinum . In 2006 he
released Live Trucker, a greatest hits live album that failed to go platinum.
He
made his comeback in 2007. Kid Rock released Rock n Roll Jesus, which produced
a hit in "All Summer Long". It was his first worldwide smash hit,
charting No. 1 in eight countries across Europe and in Australia. Rock N Roll
Jesus sold 5 million albums worldwide and was certified triple platinum in the
U.S. He released Born Free on November 16, 2010. It reached platinum a year
after its release . This gives Kid Rock his sixth Platinum album certification
and gives him a career tally of 23 million albums sold.
His
sales are not aided by iTunes, as he has boycotted sales of his music on the
service. This also affects his singles' chart positions without digital
downloads added in (for example, "All Summer Long" only peaked at No.
23 on the Billboard Hot 100). The only Kid Rock album available on iTunes is
"Grits Sandwiches For Breakfast" because Jive Records owns the rights
to the album.

Janis
Lyn Joplin (January 19, 1943 – October 4, 1970) was an American singer and
songwriter from Port Arthur, Texas. As a youth Joplin was ridiculed by her
fellow students due to her unconventional appearance and personal beliefs. She
later sang about her experience at school through her song "Ego
Rock." Early in her life, Joplin cultivated a rebellious and
unconventional lifestyle, becoming a beatnik poet. She began her singing career
as a folk and blues singer in San Francisco, playing clubs and bars with her
guitar and auto-harp.
Joplin
first rose to prominence in the late 1960s as the lead singer of the
psychedelic-acid rock band Big Brother and the Holding Company, and later as a
solo artist with her more soulful and bluesy backing groups, The Kozmic Blues
Band and The Full Tilt Boogie Band. She was one of the more popular acts at the
Monterey Pop Festival and later became one of the major attractions to the
Woodstock festival and the Festival Express train tour.
Janis
Joplin only charted five singles in her life but her hits and other popular
songs from throughout her four year career include "Down On Me",
"Bye, Bye Baby", "Coo Coo", "Summertime",
"Piece of My Heart," "Turtle Blues," "Ball 'n'
Chain," "Try (Just A Little Bit Harder)," "Maybe,"
"To Love Somebody," "Kozmic Blues," "Work Me,
Lord," "Move Over," "Cry Baby," "A Woman Left
Lonely," "Get It While You Can," "My Baby,"
"Trust Me," "Mercedes Benz," "One Night Stand,"
"Raise Your Hand" and her only number one hit, "Me and Bobby
McGee."
Joplin
was well known for her performing abilities and her fans referred to her stage
presence as electric. At the height of her career, she was known as "The
Queen of Rock and Roll" as well as "The Queen of Psychedelic
Soul" and became known as Pearl amongst her friends. She was also a
painter, dancer and music arranger.
Rolling
Stone magazine ranked Joplin number 46 on its list of the 100 Greatest Artists
of All Time in 2004, and number 28 on its 2008 list of 100 Greatest Singers of
All Time.

Led
Zeppelin were an English rock band, active in the late 1960s and throughout the
1970s. Formed as the New Yardbirds in 1968, the band consisted of guitarist
Jimmy Page, singer Robert Plant, bassist/keyboardist John Paul Jones, and
drummer John Bonham. They are widely considered to be one of the most
successful, innovative and influential rock groups in history.
After
changing their name, the band signed a favourable deal with Atlantic Records
that allowed them considerable artistic freedom. Led Zeppelin disliked
releasing their songs as singles; they viewed their albums as indivisible and
complete listening experiences, thus promoting the concept of album-oriented
rock. Due to the heavy, guitar-driven blues-rock sound of their first two
albums, Led Zeppelin are frequently recognised as the progenitors of heavy
metal and hard rock. However, the band's individualistic style drew from a wide
variety of influences, including folk music, which they incorporated into their
next two albums. Their untitled fourth album, which features the track
"Stairway to Heaven", is among the most popular and influential works
in rock music, and it cemented the status of the group as
"superstars". Subsequent albums saw greater experimentation and were
accompanied by record-breaking tours, which earned them a reputation for
excess. Although they remained commercially and critically successful, in the
later 1970s the band's output and touring schedule were limited by the personal
difficulties and circumstances of the members. Led Zeppelin disbanded following
Bonham's sudden death in 1980.
Since
1980, the surviving members have pursued solo careers and have also been
involved in a series of collaborations and one-off reunions. In 2007, 27 years
after the group disbanded, the surviving members of Led Zeppelin reunited
(along with John Bonham's son, Jason) for the Ahmet Ertegun Tribute Concert at
The O2 Arena in London. The band were honoured with the "Best Live
Act" prize for their one-off reunion at MOJO Awards 2008, where they were
described as the "greatest rock and roll band of all time".
Led
Zeppelin are one of the best-selling music artists in the history of audio
recording—various sources estimate the group's sales at more than 200 or even
300 million albums worldwide. Their 111.5 million certified units in the United
States rank them as the second-best-selling band in the US. Each of their nine
studio albums reached the top 10 of the Billboard album chart in the US, with
six reaching the number-one spot. Rolling Stone magazine described them as
"the heaviest band of all time", "the biggest band of the
'70s" and "unquestionably one of the most enduring bands in rock
history". Similarly, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame stated that the band
were "as influential in that decade [the 1970s] as The Beatles were in the
prior one".
